Payment Card Failure

Modified on Wed, 4 Jun at 2:13 PM

The most common reason you might see a 'Payment Card Failure' or 'card could not be authorized' or 'Unable to process a payment' message during checkout is if your card provider cannot validate the billing address postcode entered during checkout.

During checkout you can enter Shipping and Billing addresses separately, and if only a Shipping address is entered then this is used as both Shipping and Billing address details.

The payment card address and postcode can sometimes take up to 6 months to change in the banks digital systems, so should you see payment errors during checkout then we highly recommend you try again and enter a separate billing address, using the previous billing address for the payment card. This quickly resolves most payment issues immediately.

Here is our guide to successfully completing checking.

Double-Check Your Information

  1. Accuracy is Key: Ensure all details are correct to avoid delivery issues.
  2. Consistent Information: Use the same name and address format you use for other official documents.

Shipping Details

  1. Full Name: Enter your full legal name. Avoid using nicknames.
  2. House Name or Flat Number: Include your house name or flat number.
  3. Street Address: Include your house number and street name.
  4. Town/City: Ensure this is accurate. A small typo can lead to delivery delays.
  5. Postcode: Double-check your postcode for accuracy.
  6. Phone Number Provide a contact number where you can be reached for delivery issues.

Billing Details

  1. Match Your Card Information: Ensure the billing address matches the address on file with your credit card company.
  2. Full Name: Use the name exactly as it appears on your credit card.
  3. Address: This should be the address where your credit card statements are sent.
  4. Phone Number: Use the phone number associated with your payment card.

Review and Confirm

Double-Check Everything: Before finalising your order, review all details to ensure accuracy before submitting.
